Dark shower floor tiles look really nice IMO. Part of my research was investigating anti-microbial tile, made by a couple manufacturers here and more overseas. Large tiles for the walls, and a mosaic for the floors -- it is hard to find a porcelain mosaic because porcelain is harder to cut than stone. Discount applied at checkout. Is black shower tile hard to keep looking nice and clean? We also use Dow Scrubbing Bubbles but make sure you rinse. Schlter-FINEC combines high material quality with minimalist design. We run the exhaust fan and haven't experienced any gunk or grime so far. The rectangular corner shelf can be retrofitted. We have a whole house water softener and we do not get visible water spots, but I'm not sure if we would without the softener. They hide water spots but show grim. Walls? how about a medium gray or gray/green porcelain? lol. clean up isn't a big deal. Is glossy/polished ceramic tile hard to keep clean? also consider grout -- black will show anything light colored that builds up (soap scum, minerals, etc). My shower walls were failing, so my neighbor ripped out the plaster (yesplaster walls in the whole place) covered with the board (can't recall name) that you use in wet areas, got white subway from Lowes & I could at least use my shower again. and maybe painting it light or something with a bit of color. On the other hand my architect will renovated her bathroom with crema marfil and use bleach to keep it clean. you can't use any harsh cleaners if you have marble. 
go for something medium toned. I use a light concentration of bleach on the mosaic marble floor of the stone shower once a month or so.
